Concept has mobilized companies from all over the world in search of practices for preservation and conservation of the environment
In a corporate world, concern for the principles of sustainability has been gaining ground for some years. Specially after the First Conference of the United Nations (UN) in 1972, which address the issue “Environment and Development”, in Stockholm, Sweden.
Since that, the concept has mobilized companies all over the world in the search for practices in the preservation and conservation of the environment and its natural resources. In view of this paradigm, the role of leadership within companies plays an important role in incorporating the sustainability discussion into its growth strategy in the market.
“Strategic leadership, attitude and mentality are usually related to the concept of sustainability and its progression. Currently, sustainability has become an essential theme with social responsibility independent of the scope of the enterprise”, says Cleber Guimarães, Director of Quality of NHJ do Brasil.
Among the benefits gained through this journey towards sustainability, the professional affirms that this perception can be subjective and of great value in the long term. “Sustainability promotes support in some process or task that involves good judgment of the natural resources of the planet, such as: water, forests, etc.”, he explains.
In general, it can be seen that companies around the world are getting deeper into the issue and promoting an awareness of the balance of the use of natural resources. On a global scale, large corporations have become a benchmark for other organizations and the sustainability theme that was once perceived as aggregator may soon become a requirement for new business.
“I note that we are increasingly maturing awareness of environmental, ecological, business and social sustainability in a futuristic way. However, we will reach a time when it will become technically mandatory”, says.
In an interview, Cleber comments on what NHJ do Brasil has accomplished during its more than 20 years of existence to become a sustainable company. Read the following interview in full:
